Beckford reveals regret at leaving Leeds to join Everton

Former Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford has expressed his regret at leaving the club to join Everton.

Beckford was a prolific forward for the Yorkshire side before he decided to move to the Premier League.

He failed to make a lasting impression at Goodison Park and when looking back on his decision, he feels he could have stayed at Leeds and achieved plenty of success.

When asked on Leeds That Podcast if he has any regrets about leaving Leeds, Beckford said:

Yes, I think we could have got back-to-back promotions had I stayed.

But I’m a believer that everything happens for a reason. If I would have stayed, football-wise, it would have been brilliant. But not everything in my life, which I am very happy with, would have been the same.

Beckford joined the Toffees in 2010 and scored eight times in the top flight in his debut season.

He was then sold in the summer of 2011 to Leicester City so maybe he is right to say that he should have stayed at Leeds.

Maybe if he stayed, he could have fired them into the Premier League.
