Bernard on brink of first Everton start as more names join injury list

New signing Bernard could be set to make his first Everton start against West Ham on Sunday as more players join the ever-growing injury list at Goodison Park, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Brazilian joined as a free agent, having previously played for Shakhtar Donetsk.

The versatile midfielder/forward has yet to appear for Marco Silva’s starting Everton XI, but injury could force the new arrival into action sooner rather than later.

Theo Walcott is joined on the injury table by Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who was substituted after ten minutes of a substitute appearance for England U21s in the week.

In the midfield, the injury list doesn’t get any better. James McCarthy, Idrissa Gana Gueye, and other new signing Andre Gomes are all unavailable for selection.

Elsewhere, Michael Keane, Phil Jagielka, and now Seamus Coleman are all carrying injuries, and will force Silva to look deeper into his squad to name a starting XI.

matchday.
