- Beto is Everton’s top goalscorer and has again found himself as a key starting player.
- After being linked with a January move, Toffees will be grateful they held on to him.
- Has since highlighted what impact he wants to make at Everton and his future.
Since arriving from Udinese in 2023, Beto’s time at Everton has been a mixed bag.
From his first appearance to the current day, the forward’s place in the starting XI has never been guaranteed, yet he’s been one of the Toffees’ best strikers since selling Romelu Lukaku almost 10 years ago.
The 28-year-old has scored nine goals this season, and most recently bagged in Everton’s defeat against Liverpool.
With five games to go, he has matched his Premier League goal tally from last season, and has detailed where he currently sees himself with the club.
Beto feels at home with Everton
Beto stated that he wants to be a ‘symbol of motivation’ and feels ‘at home’, during an interview with Everton.
He said: “I hope I can be a symbol of hope and a symbol of motivation to the next ones.
“Maybe they can say, ‘Okay, Beto did this in these situations, so I can do this’. Hopefully the effort I put in can be an example.
“You see players with such massive talent and sometimes they can waste it. I have talent and talent is really good, but without the effort, it doesn’t mean so much.
The striker was also asked about where he sees himself in the coming seasons, and was straightforward about his love for the Toffees.
He added: “The future… Do I want to stay in Everton or not? Of course, I am here – I am home.
“When the time comes that I am no longer wanted here, I understand because this is football, and I will not be mad, because I understand football and how this works.
“Perhaps it’s my destiny to stay with Everton and if it’s not my destiny, I will still always love Everton.”
Beto’s determination is something to applaud
Considering Beto has been in and out of the starting picture at the Blues, his attitude has been second to none.
After being handed a run of games in the back half of the 2024-25 season, he could have thrown his toys out of the pram when effectively being shoved down the pecking order after the signing of Thierno Barry.
But the 28-year-old remained patient and waited for his chance to come calling.
He has since forced himself back into the starting XI and has repaid his manager and supporters with some pivotal goals and performances.
As the end of the season approaches, Beto could become the first Everton player since Richarlison in 2022 to hit double figures in a league season.
This spotlights that the forward has actually been one of the club’s best pieces of business in recent years, and he complements his goals with the hard work and dedication that is a necessity for an Everton number nine.
