Bolasie implies interest in permanent exit – will he return to Goodison Park?

Yannick Bolasie has implied that he would be open to leaving Everton on a permanent basis next summer.

The DR Congo international signed for Sporting Lisbon on a season-long loan this summer, and the Portuguese club reportedly have the option to turn his loan into a permanent switch at the end of the campaign.

Bolasie spent last season with both Aston Villa and Anderlecht in seperate loan spells, and after returning to Goodison Park this summer it quickly became evident that he had no place in Marco Silva’s first-team plans.

Speaking to Portuguese publication Record (via Liverpool Echo), Bolasie believes that his performances on the pitch will ultimately determine his long-term future. The former Crystal Palace forward said:

First of all, it is an honour to have the opportunity to play for a club like Sporting.

I have to look at things step by step, because we can never predict the future.

As you all know, Sporting have the option to buy me at the end of the season, but it’s the performances that will speak for me on the pitch.

That’s up to me: going on the pitch and doing my best to help the team achieve positive results.

Bolasie still has two years on his contract at Everton, but will he leave before they’re up?

I really hope Bolasie can have the right performance levels this season to earn him a permanent move away from Goodison Park, both for Everton’s sake and for his.

Bolasie won’t play for the Toffees again, and he is a significant hinderance on the club’s wage bill. Not to mention it was no fault of his own that his Everton spell came to an end, and it’d be good to see him get back playing elsewhere.

Disrespect a few weeks ago aside, Bolasie could do with finding some stability away from Merseyside and hopefully his performances this season help him achieve that.
