Bolton looking to land Everton midfielder Joe Williams

Bolton Wanderers are reportedly leading the race to sign Joe Williams from Everton on loan.

According to claims from Pete O’Rourke for Football Insider, Bolton are currently at the front of the queue as they look to fend off competition from other Championship clubs for Williams’ signature.

It’s stated that the likes of Hull City, Bristol City and Birmingham City have expressed an interest in recruiting the youngster, who looks set for a temporary spell away from Goodison Park.

Williams enjoyed a strong loan tenure with Barnsley last season but does not appear to be in Marco Silva’s plans for the here and now, with another loan move beckoning.

The 21-year-old, who represented England at Under-20 level, will be keen to play regular first-team football this season as he did for Barnsley last term.

Williams was wanted by Barnsley on a permanent deal, according to reports, but Everton declined the club’s proposal as they looked to retain the services of one of their promising young players.
