Bournemouth interested in signing James McCarthy

Bournemouth have expressed at interest in signing James McCarthy on loan, according to the Daily Mail.

The Everton midfielder has found himself out of favour under Marco Silva this season, having recovered from a broken leg.

Eddie Howe is believed to be a big admirer of the player and sees him as an ideal replacement for the injured Lewis Cook.

There is space for Bournemouth to make one more Premier League loan move this month, having already acquired the services of Liverpool’s Nathaniel Clyne.

McCarthy has 18 months remaining on his current Everton deal, so a summer exit looks likely.

Should he join Bournemouth and impress, there could be potential for a loan move to become permanent at the end of the season.

Everton are considering bids for the 28-year-old, with Fulham, Aston Villa and West Brom among those also interested.

McCarthy joined the Blues from Wigan Athletic in 2013 and has made 132 appearances for the club, scoring six goals along the way.
