Braiden Graham could make Northern Ireland debut in Georgia clash

Everton youngster Braiden Graham could make his senior international debut on Monday evening when Northern Ireland face Georgia at Windsor Park.

The 18-year-old has remained with Michael O’Neill’s squad throughout the September and October international window but is still waiting for his first appearance at senior level.

Northern Ireland host Georgia at 7.45pm, with Graham hoping to be involved after being an unused substitute during Friday’s impressive 3-0 victory over Ukraine in Slovakia.

Graham still waiting for first Northern Ireland cap

Graham retained his place in O’Neill’s 28-man squad after initially being called into the senior set-up for the summer friendlies against Guinea and France.

The Irish FA confirmed before the current window that the Everton striker was still awaiting his senior debut, while fellow teenager Ceadach O’Neill had already collected two caps.

That wait has continued through the opening three Nations League fixtures, with Graham yet to get on the pitch.

Northern Ireland are currently top of League B Group 2 with seven points from three matches following Friday’s victory over Ukraine. Monday’s meeting with Georgia completes an unusually busy four-game international window, but not their Nations League campaign.

O’Neill’s side reconvene in November to host Ukraine on 14 November before travelling to Hungary for their final group fixture three days later.

For Graham, though, the immediate focus will be on whether Monday finally brings his first taste of senior international football.

The teenager’s continued involvement with Northern Ireland represents further progress after establishing himself around David Moyes’ first-team environment at Everton.

A senior international debut at Windsor Park would be another significant step.
