Brazil coach Xavier hails Silva’s influence on Richarlison

Brazil assistant manager Cleber Xavier has hailed the influence of Everton manager Marco Silva on Richarlison’s development.

In recent times, the Toffees winger has established himself as a part of the Brazilian national team. Following his move to Goodison Park in the summer, Richarlison has made his mark on the international scene and is in good form.

The former Watford star has now made six appearances for his country at senior level and has found the net on three occasions.

The 21-year-old was in the goals for his country once again on Tuesday night as he netted a decisive header in a 1-0 friendly win against Cameroon.

Following Brazil’s win in Milton Keynes, assistant boss Xavier spoke to Everton’s official club website and lavished praise on Toffees manager Silva, hailing his influence on Richarlison. The coach said:

Marco Silva is really important in his career, he brought him to Watford then Everton. That is something which is really good for us. We exchange information between the club and the national team.

He played as a winger for Watford and initially Everton, and for Brazil, we were using him as a centre-forward – the position he has been playing for Everton recently, too.

This is really positive and Marco Silva is one of the most important guys in developing his career.

The versatile attacker’s goal for Brazil means that he has now found the net on nine occasions this season for Everton and his national team.
