Chatter about why Pickford should be dropped by England – Fan Reactions

Jordan Pickford is certainly a character. While he is supremely talented, he is also a loose cannon, who wears his heart on his sleeve sometimes to detrimental effect.

But you cannot debate his ability as a goalkeeper, that much is certain. At least, it should be certain, but a section of football fans will have you believe otherwise.

There has been some chatter on social media this week, particularly in relation to a video posted to Twitter by 888sport, where claims are made about Pickford’s ability, or lack thereof.

There have been shouts for Pickford to lose his spot in the England set-up for ‘better’ goalkeepers Nick Pope, or in extreme circumstances (ie. the 888sport video) for Jack Butland.

Several Everton fans took to Twitter to discuss Jordan Pickford, why some people still continue to underrate his ability, and the legitimacy of shouts for Butland to replace him for the Three Lions.

Calls for Jack Butland to replace Jordan Pickford in the England set-up are so baffling it is difficult to really comprehend. I would be fine with a player from the Championship dethroning Pickford if the quality was there, but Butland has had an awful time as of late, even being dropped from Stoke’s starting eleven.

Pickford is rash and a little unstable, but his ability is reliable. He is vastly talented, and there is no one that comes close to supplanting him, in my opinion.
