Chelsea name price for Zouma, but should Everton pay it?

Chelsea are expected to demand £30million for Kurt Zouma this summer, but is that a fee worth paying for Everton?

The Toffees have reportedly lined up the French defender as their top transfer target this summer, after having already brought Andre Gomes back to Merseyside on a permanent basis.

The 24-year old spent last season on loan at Goodison Park and impressed alongside Michael Keane in the heart of Everton’s defence, tempting manager Marco Silva to bring him back on a full-time basis.

According to a report from BBC Sport, the Blues are likely to reject anything less than £30million this summer, with the club’s transfer ban likely to drive up the France international’s price-tag.

£30million is a price Everton should definitely be willing to pay for Zouma, especially if he is considered the long-term successor to Phil Jagielka.

Keane and Zouma struck up a solid partnership last season and Silva will be keen to keep that together, and should he identify Zouma as an essential player to bring make to Goodison Park, then he should be prepared to go all out for him.

With Zouma still young at just 24 and with him possessing plenty of potential, £30million would be a snip in today’s market, with alternatives likely to cost similar or much more.
