David Luiz appears to have further put Everton’s chances of signing Kurt Zouma in jeopardy, following reports that he is determined to sign for Arsenal.
According to L’Equipe (via GFFN), the Brazilian defender is trying to force a move to the Gunners, where he is believed to be in advanced contacts with the club.
Luiz refused to train today after Arsenal made a firm proposal, which the former Paris Saint-Germain defender is set on taking, in doing so making Everton’s pursuit of Zouma all the more difficult.
Everton have been hoping to convince Chelsea into selling Zouma this window, however Frank Lampard appears set on keeping the talented centre-back at Stamford Bridge. While there remains only a slim chance of landing the Frenchman now, those chances dramatically decrease once Luiz is allowed to leave.

At this point in the transfer window I think it is unlikely that Everton will be able to bring Kurt Zouma to the club. Chelsea have been very resolute in their stance that he isn’t for sale, and not much has changed to give Everton fans hope.
Should David Luiz depart the club, it almost guarantees that Zouma will remain put. With Luiz having seemingly put up a fight to leave the club, having refused to train, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him get his move, therefore eliminating any chance for Zouma for the time being.
I would suspect that with Zouma now a primary player for Chelsea, Everton will abandon their hopes in landing him. However, it could see the club step up their efforts to land Fiyako Tomori.
