Fabian Delph has returned to Finch Farm from the England camp to continue rehabilitation on the hamstring injury he suffered against Tottenham Hotspur at the start of the month.
The injury left him out of Marco Silva’s squad at Southampton last weekend but he was still called up to the England squad ahead of this week’s EURO 2020 Qualifiers.
This evening, Gareth Southgate made the decision to send him back to the Toffees after the medical team assessed him and confirmed he wouldn’t be able to feature against Montenegro or Kosovo.
Hopefully, it’s not a huge setback and he can use the international break to recover and play a part in the game against Norwich City at Goodison Park.
It’s unlikely he would’ve started for England anyway, but the fact Southgate selected him whilst he was an injury doubt says all you need to know about how high he’s regarded by the national team.
