Do Everton actually need Niasse?

Do Everton actually need Niasse?

With the impending signing of Oumar Niasse, there is one question to be asked. Do Everton actually need another striker?

Of course, Everton are a bit light up top, especially if Lukaku gets injured. However, it could be argued that with Everton 4th highest goal scorers in the League, and with Lukaku being the top scorer, why would we spend our scarce resources on another forward? Moreover, Everton have the likes of Barkley and Koné, who have a combined 15 goals between them.

The problem for Everton this season seems to be the defence, and more specifically the Goalkeeper. To put how bad Everton are into perspective, Everton have conceded 34 goals already this season. Two years ago under Martinez when Everton finished 5th, they conceded 39 goals. This astonishing stat maybe suggests that Everton should be spending their money in other areas.

Should Everton be spending money on a new Goalkeeper? Diego Lopez and David Marshall have been two names branded about which might be worth keeping an eye out for. Should Everton be buying a new centre-back or winger? Yarmelenko is the go-to rumour and is Riquelme-esque in the sense that its never going to happen, no matter how much we want it to.

What do you think Blues, should we be spending this much on a Striker, or do you think that the money is best spent elsewhere? Let us know @ReadEverton
