Everton agree deal for Lodewijks

A deal to bring Dutch goalkeeping coach Patrick Lodewijks to Goodison Park has been completed, Everton have announced.

Lodewijks, who worked with newly appointed manager Ronald Koeman during his spell at Feyenoord, will join the already bustling Dutch contingent at Everton that also includes Ronald Koeman’s brother Erwin as assistant manager and fitness coach Jan Kluitenberg.

The 49-year-old will bring much-needed experience to a backroom staff that seemingly lacked world class experience under Roberto Martinez. A mainstay in the Eredivisie for 20 years with over 350 appearances, Lodewijks had occupied a goalkeeping role at Feyenoord for eight years before moving on to the Dutch national setup.

Such astute appointments to backroom staff signal an immense statement of intent from Everton, new majority owner Farhad Moshiri and fans will certainly be relishing to see more made and for new boss Koeman to try his hand in the transfer window with a bumper transfer kitty.
