Everton look set to battle West Ham over the signing of Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson once the January transfer window opens, according to reports.
The French central midfielder has emerged as a target for both the Toffees and the Hammers, with Sanson having impressed in Ligue 1 this season.
The 25-year has become a regular for Marseille since moving from Montpellier in 2017, building a solid portfolio of French top flight appearances that has seen him having become an attractive prospect to clubs across Europe.

Everton have suffered from a lack of midfield options this season, particularly due to injury as Andre Gomes, Fabian Delph, Morgan Schneiderlin and JP Gbamin have all found themselves on the sidelines at points this season.
Now Express Sport claim that the Blues are set on Sanson, although they will face considerable competition to land the former France youth international’s signature.

Everton undeniably need to reinforce their midfield options in January, and Sanson would be a solid option to explore, should he interest Carlo Ancelotti and Marcel Brands.
The Frenchman has demonstrated that he has the ability to perform at the top level, although it would still be a gamble to see if he can perform in the Premier League. Saying that, he has experience playing in the Europa League, which would indicate that he has some amount of pedigree.
It isn’t clear whether Marseille would consider his sale, or whether it would be for an affordable amount, but if Everton decide that he is their man then I would have no qualms with them going all out, as that area is certainly in need of strengthening.
