Everton player ratings v Man United Tyrique George

Three Everton youngsters were involved in England victories on Friday as Harrison Armstrong, Tyrique George and Tyler Dibling began their international programmes with wins.

Armstrong starts in England U20 victory

He was named in midfield as England Under-20s began their U20 Euro Elite League campaign with victory in Darren Moore’s first match as head coach.

The Everton midfielder played 71 minutes before being replaced by Shumaira Mheuka. Jesse Derry gave England the lead in the 37th minute before turning provider for captain Mikey Moore seven minutes after half-time.

An Airidas Golambeckis own goal brought Italy back into the game, but substitute Shea Lacey restored England’s two-goal advantage in the 82nd minute. Armstrong and his team-mates remain in Spain, where they face France on Tuesday morning before meeting Germany next Saturday.

There was more Everton involvement later in the day as England Under-21s continued their European Championship qualifying campaign with a 4-2 win over Kazakhstan.

George was introduced earlier than expected, replacing the injured Jamie Gittens in the 39th minute. The winger tested goalkeeper Miras Rikhard shortly after the restart and forced another save late in the game as England looked to put the result beyond doubt.

Dibling joined him on the pitch in the 79th minute, replacing Josh King for the closing stages.

England had fallen behind after only three minutes before an Ali Turganov own goal, and Josh Acheampong strike turned the game around. Kazakhstan equalised before half-time, but Max Alleyne’s powerful volley restored England’s lead on the hour, and Will Lankshear made it 4-2 in stoppage time.

The victory leaves Lee Carsley’s side with the chance to secure qualification for next summer’s European Championship when they face Slovakia at Stoke on Friday.

For Everton, it was a useful start to the international break for three of the younger members of David Moyes’ first-team squad.
