Nottingham Forest are considering a move for Everton striker Beto, according to the Daily Mail’s Simon Jones.
Oliver Glasner’s side are believed to be assessing the Guinea-Bissau international striker as an option, with the two clubs likely to be competing for similar positions in the table again this season.
Nothing has been confirmed beyond that stage of interest, and no move has been made.
Beto has shared minutes with Thierno Barry since his move from Udinese, and Moyes’ assessment of him has been mixed — praising his work rate after facing Glasner’s Crystal Palace last season, while also acknowledging he’s “limited in other aspects.”
A sale to a rival wouldn’t sit entirely comfortably, but it would clarify things in terms of striking options.
Everton have already been credited with interest in alternatives, including free agent Dusan Vlahovic, though that move has stalled amid Vlahovic’s preference to sort out his Juventus future first. Losing Beto would heighten the urgency to find someone.
For now, this is interest rather than an approach, and Everton’s response — if Forest do come in — remains to be seen.
But it’s another sign that Moyes’ forward line, one of the more persistent problem areas of recent seasons, is far from settled heading into the new campaign.
