Everton bid for Fazio

Everton have offered £5million for Tottenham defender Federico Fazio, according to the Daily Mail.

The report comes just hours after the news of John Stones’ transfer request as he looks to force through a big money move to Premier League champions Chelsea, who’ve been pursuing him all summer.

Argentina star Fazio had been talking to Tony Pulis’ West Bromwich Albion after the Baggies agreed a fee with the Lilywhites.

But talks broke down over the weekend and Fazio remains at White Hart Lane for now, although the Londoners are looking to offload him before the transfer window closes next week.

Fazio has endured a tough time at Tottenham following his £7million move from Sevilla last summer, but a potential move to Goodison doesn’t look likely.

Sylvain Distin and Antolin Alcaraz have already left Everton this summer and with John Stones’ future up in the air the Toffeemen need reinforcements quickly.

Is Fazio the right man for Everton’s defensive needs?
