Everton’s board are excepting part of the blame for the club’s torrid season so far, according to reports.
The Toffees currently sit in 17th place in the Premier League, just two points above the relegation zone, and with games against Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City to come in the next five weeks, the Blues could well be in the drop zone by Christmas.
While Marco Silva has faced plenty of criticism from large portions of the Everton fans, the club have not yet hung him out to dry, despite the poor results.

According to Telegraph Sport, this is because the board feel responsible for the club’s disappointing season too.
Everton began the summer with a transfer remit of signing a target man and a ball-playing centre-back, and with neither of those positions having been secured, the board feel that they haven’t given Silva all the tools that he had wanted.
While this won’t be enough for Silva to keep his job unless he can turn the club around, it does explain why the board have shown reluctance to be overly quick to sack the Portuguese coach.

I do think it is good that the board are taking some responsibility, because Everton are clearly missing several elements of their squad. That being said, the admission does little to help the club at this point.
Results are still not going the club’s way, and performances are not acceptable still, despite the Leicester game being a drastic improvement from the Norwich loss.
Everton need more than the board’s admission of partial guilt to remedy their season, and I’m not quite sure what that can be at this point.
