Everton’s move for Christian Kofane remains at an early stage, but positive conversations this week have kept the Toffees firmly in the driving seat.
Talks between Kofane’s agent and Everton took place at Finch Farm on Wednesday, according to Daily Arsenal’s David Schill, who described the discussions as positive while stressing nothing is imminent or advanced at this stage.
It fits with what’s already been reported. Everton have tabled a formal offer to Bayer Leverkusen for the 19-year-old, and Schill’s update adds detail to a story that has been building for weeks: Kofane’s representatives meeting the club directly, rather than talks being conducted from a distance.
Race remains open
Schill’s report is clear that competition hasn’t gone away. Kofane’s agent, Eric Depolo, continues to speak with several Premier League clubs, though Everton are said to be best placed of that group for now.
Bournemouth’s interest has also been mentioned this week, though reports suggest the Cherries would need to sell Junior Kroupi before pushing further for Kofane.
Schill floated Tottenham as a possible destination for Kroupi, while admitting he hadn’t fully confirmed it — and that tracks with Sky Sports reporting this week suggesting Bournemouth have no real appetite to sell Kroupi at all, whatever the fee. Worth treating that particular strand with caution.
Where it leaves Everton…
None of this changes the bigger picture… for now. Kofane remains under contract at Leverkusen until 2029, and the Bundesliga club are in no rush to sell a player they paid around £5m for just twelve months ago.
Everton’s advantage, for now, is a head start and a direct line to the player’s camp — but not a deal that’s close to being done.
