Everton have now confirmed a timeline for JP Gbamin’s return from a thigh injury.
The Ivory Coast international has been subject of much speculation over the past few days, having missed out on Friday’s game against Aston Villa through a knock.
Several Everton based journalists reported on Twitter on Sunday night that the injury was worse that the club initially thought, and that the midfielder could be out for some times.

Everton have now confirmed the reports, claiming that the 23-year old summer signing will be out for at least eight weeks.
The club also confirmed that they will continue to study the injury this week ahead of providing a more extensive timeline for the midfielder’s return.
With Fabian Delph close to being back to full fitness, Everton will rely on Andre Gomes, Morgan Schneiderlin and Tom Davies as the only fit senior midfielders for the immediate time being, while Gylfi Sigurdsson could be forced to play deeper, or young starlets like Dennis Adeniran or Beni Baningime could make the step up.

Everton desperately need Delph to regain fitness. Of course it’s all down to unfortunate circumstance, but the club should never have been in a position where they’re suffering a midfield crisis, and are relying on Fabian Delph’s fitness to help stabilise them. Thankfully, it does look like we’re almost at that point.
Ordinarily I’d be confident with Gomes, Schneiderlin and Davies. The former two are more than competent, and Davies is a solid option off the bench. However, after the game at Villa Park, doubt does begin to set in, with both midfielders (particularly Gomes) turning in poor performances in a game that should have been a comfortable win.
It’s crunch time for Everton, with a solid start to the season so crucial in mapping out where the club’s aims and ambitions for the new campaign lie. Marco Silva needs to do the best he can to get the most out of the players currently at his disposal, to ensure Everton don’t begin to lag behind.
