Everton considering Norwegian midfielder

Everton are reportedly lining up a January move for Borussia Monchengladbach defensive midfielder Havard Nordveit as Roberto Martinez looks to potentially bolster his midfield options for next season.

The deal that the Toffees are said to be interested in is a pre-contract agreement that will allow a deal to be in place in January and will go through ahead of next season due to a short amount of time on the 25-year-old’s contract.

The Norwegian midfielder has made over 150 appearances for Monchengladbach but has not signed a deal with the club yet. This indicates that the versatile midfielder, who can also play at centre-back, could be looking to find a new challenge elsewhere – potentially at Goodison Park.

Everton have displayed plenty of flair and talent this season, with goals coming freely for Romelu Lukaku and co.

But the defence has become a real bone of contention for the Goodison faithful, and it’s an issue that Nordtveit could help resolve.

Roberto Martinez will have to move quickly to secure the Norway international in January if he is to sign the player on a free, as many clubs could come swooping for the impressive midfielder.
