Everton are considering a loan move for Artem Dovbyk
AS Roma striker Artem Dovybk has missed the majority of this season due to a hamstring injury, after only appearing in 17 matches.
But as he comes ever closer to match fitness, it has been suggested that Everton could take the 28-year-old on loan for the 2026-27 season, according to Romagiallorossa.it.
The forward moved from Girona in 2024, after a phenomenal campaign with the Spanish side, where he netted 24 goals and registered 10 assists in all competitions.
Since then, he has not managed to replicate such form, yet in his debut year with Roma, the Ukrainian laid down respectable stats, after scoring 17 goals in 45 matches.
After just starting three games in this current campaign, Dovbyk will be looking for consistent playing time as he returns from injury, and a loan move might give him the ability to do so.
Artem Dovbyk could be a risk
Dovbyk has highlighted that he is a striker who can compete at the top level of football, having gained experience in La Liga and Serie A.
He would add fresh competition to the forward line at Everton, and at 6ft2in tall, the 28-year-old would not have an issue with the physicality of the Premier League.
But his physical shape as a striker is not one that the Toffees need, considering they already have Beto and Barry, who both possess similar builds to the Ukrainian.
On top of this, recruiting Dovbyk on loan would also pose as another risk, as it is uncertain as to whether he will have fully regained his match fitness, and Moyes will not want to waste a loan slot on an injury-prone player.
However, his proven skill to operate as a false nine does offer something different in attack, yet the Blues will need to consider if the Ukrainian is worth the risk.
