Everton enter the running to sign Bakayoko

Everton have entered the running to sign Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko before Thursday’s deadline, according to reports in Italy.

According to Corriere della sera, as cited on Calciomercato, AC Milan have had talks with the Blues over a deal to sign the player on loan, but face competition from Everton and Borussia Dortmund.

Bakayoko looks set to leave Chelsea this summer, with the player not believed to be part of Maurizio Sarri’s plans.

The French midfielder struggled during his first season in London after a big-money move from Monaco and is set to fall out of favour at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have signed Jorginho from Napoli this summer and with Matteo Kovacic due to arrive from Real Madrid, regular game time is unlikely.

Everton have already expressed an interest in Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma, with the Toffees hoping to strike a loan deal for the Frenchman, who spent last season at Stoke City.

With Milan leading the race for Bakayoko, Everton’s interest appears to be dependent on whether or not they land Zouma.
