Everton eye move for Roma midfielder

Everton have joined Crystal Palace in the race to sign Maxime Gonalons from Roma.

Calciomercato reports that the Toffees are also looking to make a move, with the Italians happy to sell the player.

Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace have reportedly lodged a €12 million offer to sign the player this summer.

Roma are aware that by selling the Frenchman they can go on to pursue other transfer targets.

The Italians have their eyes set on former Stoke City man Steven Nzonzi and Gonalons’ departure would free up a spot for the French international.

Gonalons only joined Roma last summer but has failed to hold down a regular starting place in Italy.

After spending eight consistent years in France with Lyon, Gonalons now looks set for another summer move.

Everton are looking to strengthen their squad this summer but have only recently completed their first signing of the transfer window, with Richarlison joining in a big-money deal.
