Everton eyeing Beto transfer swoop

Everton are reportedly eyeing a potential transfer move for Udinese striker, Beto.

According to a recent report from Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), the Toffees are one of the clubs, alongside the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Napoli and Fiorentina, that have an interest in the centre-forward.

After scoring 26 goals in 69 appearances for his previous club Portimonense across their senior and youth sides, the 24-year-old joined Udinese on loan before becoming a permanent player for them in the recent summer transfer window.

With 36 appearances under his belt for the Italian side, the Portuguese striker has found the net 15 times, showing how prolific he has been in front of goal for them.

Hailed by journalist Josh Bunting as an “intelligent” player, Beto has 41 goals to his name in total throughout his career.

Last season saw the striker bag 11 goals in 28 Serie A appearances, as well as racking up the second-highest number of shots at goal (64) and shots on target (26) at the club.

In fact, last season he had an expected goals rating of 10.6, which is higher than any Everton player had for their previous Premier League campaign.

This season has seen Beto start his latest campaign in Italy in hot goalscoring form as he has scored four goals in seven league appearances, making him Udinese’s top scorer.

Taking all of this into account, it’s easy to see why the Merseyside club have their eye on bringing the striker, who has been called “unreal” by journalist Sam Tighe, to Goodison Park.

With Frank Lampard’s side having yet to score more than one goal in any of their seven league games this season, having a figure like the Udinese star in the squad could be just what the Toffees boss needs to see his side become more effective in front of goal.
