Everton eyeing move for central defender

Ben Gibson could be allowed to leave Middlesbrough this summer, with Everton keeping close tabs on the centre-back, the Mirror reports.

Championship side Boro have already secured deals for Paddy McNair from Sunderland and Bristol City defender Aden Flint, leaving the door open for Ben Gibson to finally secure a move back to the Premier League.

Premier League sides Everton and Southampton are both considering making moves for the Boro defender, whose Uncle Steve Gibson owns the club.

Gibson was highly sought-after by West Bromwich Albion last summer following Boro’s relegation from the top flight, however Boro rejected several bids from the Midlands club.

However it is now thought that owner Steve Gibson may now let his nephew go to play top-flight football again sue to the additions of McNair and Flint.

Gibson put in a series of impressive performances in the Premier League two seasons ago with Boro, which lead to an England call up in March 2017.
