Everton eyeing move for Swansea defender

Everton are eyeing up a move for Swansea central defender Alfie Mawson this summer.

According to The Yorkshire Evening Post, Everton are interested in signing Mawson ahead of next season.

The report claims that Everton also remain keen on Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson.

The Championship duo, Mawson and Gibson, are thought to be attracting interest from a number of Premier League sides.

Everton are hoping to have more success with transfers than they did last summer.

The club signed defender Michael Keane from Burnley for a fee of over £20m, with the Englishman struggling throughout the campaign.

Mawson was relegated with Swansea last season, but was considered one of their most consistent performers at the heart of the defence.

The 24-year-old has played 71 games for Swansea since his move from Barnsley in 2016, scoring six Premier League goals in that time.
