Everton are expecting another busy summer transfer window.

Last year, the Toffees were able to bring in a multitude of quality players, but have had mixed results from their new players.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jack Grealish proved to be key members of the side, yet young talent such as Tyler Dibling and Adam Aznou have failed to make any inroads into the team.

David Moyes has already shown an interest in Argentinian star Milton Delgado; however, he is not the only manager who has their eyes on the midfielder.

Everton faces Premier League competition

Playing for the historic Boca Juniors, Delgado has broken into the first team in Buenos Aires at only 20 years old.

His performances have attracted interest from various parties in Europe, including Everton, but they will face competition to sign the midfielder.

Premier League rivals Bournemouth and Crystal Palace have the Argentine on their shortlist, as do giants Inter Milan and Turkish outfit Besiktas, according to Ekrem Konur.

Delgado has a €17 million release clause in his contract, and Boca Juniors will hold firm on this price, hoping that a side will meet their demands.

Who is Milton Delgado?

Standing at 5ft 5in, Delgado is not a striking presence in midfield, yet he makes up for this with his intelligence and discipline in the middle of the park.

His low centre of gravity can be compared to the play style of John McGinn, who makes the most of this with clever interceptions and darting runs.

Another comparison that Evertonians would be familiar with is Idrissa Gana Gueye.

Gueye is by no means a physical giant and has shone in midfield through his defensive intelligence.

The Senegalese is currently negotiating his future on Merseyside, with his contract running out this summer.

If he does renew his deal, then Moyes could enter the market for a player with a similar build.

Delgado’s only downfall would be his age, with Moyes expressing his opinions on young players and his desire to keep them on the bench, instead of gaining minutes on the pitch.

Yet, taking Harrison Armstrong as an example, if someone can show maturity and discipline regardless of their age, then the Scotsman does reward them with playing time.

It is more likely that Moyes will attempt to sign players who can offer an immediate impact to his squad, as opposed to young talent with an eye on the future.

But he is hoping for a busy window, and room could be made for youth prospects.
