According to the printed edition of the Daily Mail, Everton made a late move for Khouma Babacar.
It’s claimed in the report that the Fiorentina man was one of several strikers who the Toffees enquired about, but they were knocked back at such a late stage of the window.
Babacar has been linked with a move to the Premier League for some time now, and it looks as though Everton were interested in giving him the chance to impress on English soil.

However, he is a key player for Fiorentina and it seems they were understandably keen to retain his services for the season ahead.
Everton were looking to land a striker ever since they offloaded Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United. Despite having signed both Wayne Rooney and Sandro Ramirez, Everton boss Ronald Koeman was determined to bring in more firepower.
The Toffees may now look towards the January transfer window if they fail to fire in the opening half of the season.
