Everton fans agree with Neville’s damning assessment of the Toffees

Several Everton fans have defended Gary Neville’s take on the Blues following Sunday afternoon’s 3-2 loss to Arsenal.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored an early goal at the Emirates, but Arsenal quickly pulled in front following goals from Eddie Nketiah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Richarlison poked him a scrappy finish to level proceedings just before half time, but Aubameyang got his second, Arsenal’s third and the game-winning goal almost immediately after the second-half restart.

The former Manchester United full-back and current TV pundit was critical of Everton after they were ultimately let down by individual defensive errors and a distinct lack of clinical finishing ability.

As a result of Neville’s punditry, former Everton captain Kevin Ratcliffe took to Twitter, saying:

Why is @GNev2 so negative towards @Everton!

After an Everton fan replied to Ratcliffe, agreeing with the former Wales international’s sentiment, Neville responded, saying:

I mean you haven’t won at arsenal for 24 years, you are crap in big matches (and I actually don’t want you to be), your team shrink in nearly every big game I see and you ask me to talk you up!

Neville was then backed up by a number of Everton supporters online, who didn’t find it difficult to agree with the former England international’s assessment of the club.

matchday.
