Several Everton fans have expressed their happiness over Vitor Pereira’s withdrawal from the race to succeed Marco Silva at Goodison Park.
The Portuguese coach had looked for a time to be Everton’s primary target to replace Silva, who was removed from his role as Toffees boss earlier this month.
However, following a reported counter offer made by Pereira’s current club Shanghai SIPG to keep their boss in China, the 51-year old has removed himself from the race.

Carlo Ancelotti, Unai Emery and David Moyes now appear to be the frontrunners for the position, with the latter looking the most likely and the Italian appearing to be the most ambitious and unlikely.
Responding on social media, Pereira’s decision to rule himself out was met with positivity from plenty of Evertonians, as the former Porto boss had not been an overwhelming favourite among the fan base.

Pereira wasn’t the man Everton should have been pursuing for me personally, but I’d much prefer him to someone like David Moyes.
Ultimately, Pereira comes across like an older version of Marco Silva, someone who would not represent a huge departure from the stale tactical approach that we have seen all too much of this season.
Moyes would still be a negative appointment, and I’m not totally convinced by Unai Emery either, but in Carlo Ancelotti we are seeing Everton show a glint of ambition at the very least, even if it is unlikely that the Toffees can land the Italian.
