Everton fans aren’t fazed with Carabao Cup draw against Leicester

Everton have been drawn against Leicester City in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

The Toffees beat Watford 2-0 on Tuesday night to seal their place in the final eight of the competition, a tournament that the club have never won in their entire history.

The Foxes meanwhile beat League One outfit Burton Albion 3-1 at the Pirelli Stadium, off the back of their record breaking 9-0 Premier League victory over Southampton.

In drawing Leicester, Everton avoided a number of heavy hitters such as Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool, who were drawn against Oxford United, Colchester United and Aston Villa respectively.

Leicester are currently third in the Premier League table, with only Liverpool and Man City above them, however despite Everton being underdogs for this fixture, many Everton fans expressed on social media their relief over the draw.

It does seem just Everton’s luck that United, City and Liverpool all got much ‘easier’ fixtures, with it looking unlikely that Everton could be drawn against a lower league side if they can get past Leicester.

However, they always say you can only beat what is put in front of you, and Everton will need to apply that attitude against Leicester.

Brendan Rodgers has done a fantastic job at the King Power, and his side will be tough opposition, but if they rotate their squad as they have been doing so far this season then Everton will stand a chance.

Silva will likely field a full-strength side, as he has done in every round so far, and he will know how much a semi-final will mean to the fan base.
