Everton fans breathe a sigh a relief after the Blues beat Southampton

Marco Silva must have breathed a huge sigh of relief following the full-time whistle at St Mary’s, as Everton scraped to a 2-1 win over Southampton.

The Toffees were the dominant side in the first-half of the game, and the away side should have gone into the interval several goals to the good, however that wasn’t the case.

Tom Davies opened the scoring inside five minutes after Mason Holgate headed a swinging corner to the back post for the 21-year old to rise highest.

Further chances couldn’t be converted and Everton were left to pay for their lack of clinical action, with Southampton equalising through Danny Ings shortly into the second half.

However, Richarlison was able to divert a Djibril Sidibe cross towards goal and in with 15 minutes remaining, earning Everton their first Premier League away win of the season.

Responding to the result on Twitter, it was clear to see that many fans are still not happy with the club’s current situation, although the feeling that Everton desperately needed the win was largely shared across the board.
