Everton fans call for Tosun start against Southampton

Cenk Tosun made a big impact after coming off the bench against Tottenham on Sunday.

The Turkey international was brought on near the 70 minute mark at Goodison Park last weekend for just his second Premier League appearance of the season.

The 28-year powered a header from an excellently whipped Lucas Digne cross past Paulo Gazzaniga in the 97th minute to bring Everton back level in a game marred by controversy and disappointment.

Tosun has now scored once and assisted twice in just three substitute appearances this season across all competitions, and a number of Everton fans have been discussing whether the forward should start against Southampton.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Moise Kean are both unreliable as options up front for the Toffees at the moment, leading several fans to debate whether Tosun should be brought back into the line-up this weekend.

Read Everton Verdict

At this point in the season I don’t see how it could hurt. With refereeing decisions constantly going against Everton, the club are likely to be robbed of a win against Saints anyway, so what does it matter who starts up front.

Tosun has been patient, and he has looked to make an impact whenever he has been given the chance. DCL and Kean aren’t doing the business, Richarlison needs to be dropped, so give Tosun a shot and see what he can do.
