Everton fans disagree with club after Celtic loan offer for Gordon is rejected

Everton have rejected a request from Celtic to sign Anthony Gordon on loan for the remainder of the season, according to The Athletic.

The 18-year old attacking midfielder recently made his first team debut for Everton under Carlo Ancelotti, having been on the cusp of a senior nod for some time, having trained with the first team under Marco Silva for the majority of the season.

Bayern Munich were reportedly interested in signing Gordon earlier this month, according to The Athletic, while Football Insider claimed in November that Borussia Dortmund were planning a January offer.

The Athletic claim that Celtic boss Neil Lennon has had a long-standing interest in Gordon, having watched him on several occasions for Everton’s Under-23s.

However, the report claims that Ancelotti wants to give Gordon more game time in the final stretch of the campaign, as he feels he will benefit more from remaining at Goodison Park.

Several Everton fans weren’t sure about this decision though, with a number of supporters feeling that Gordon could benefit with more regular football away from Merseyside.
