Everton loss to Manchester City last weekend didn’t do much to dissuade certain members of the fan base that Marco Silva needs to go.
The topic of the Everton manager’s future is currently divisive, with some fans wanting the former Watford coach to be sacked, while others are keen for him to remain at Goodison Park.
While a loss to the defending Premier League champions who are streets above almost all other teams in the league would seemingly not have any bearing on Silva’s future, some fans have pointed to the manner of defeat as detrimental to the club.
As such, following the game on Merseyside, many fans have taken to social media to debate who could replace the Everton boss, should owner Farhad Moshiri decide to swing the axe.

For me, it is still far too early to sack Silva. I think that any manager worth sacking Silva for would be difficult if not impossible to land, and of those available there are very few that I would be interested in pursuing.
Calls for Jose Mourinho just seem misguided to me. I don’t think the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss would be interested in moving to Goodison Park, and I don’t think he would necessarily be a success on Merseyside either.
Eddie Howe is probably the most realistic and effective option, but with him having experienced first-hand already that the grass isn’t always greener, it could be hard to tempt even him, despite the fact that he is an Evertonian.
