Several Everton fans have reacted negatively to reports that Carlo Ancelotti wants to make former Liverpool defender Ragnar Klavan his first signing.
It was reported yesterday that the Italian coach had specifically requested that Everton explore the possibility of signing the Estonian centre-back, who is currently with Cagliari in Italy.

BlogCagliariCalcio.net (via Sport Witness) claimed that the 34-year old centre-back had caught Ancelotti’s attention, and while Everton have not yet made a formal approach, the player has been alerted to the Toffees interest.
Responding to the story on Twitter, a number of Everton supporters expressed their doubts and concerns with the speculation, with many not feeling that the defender has enough quality to adequately strengthen Everton’s thin defensive unit.

I don’t disagree with any of those sentiments. As mentioned in our initial coverage of this story, I can’t see how Klavan would make any sense as a genuine target for the Blues at this point, particularly given his age and his lack of quality.
Everton have the resources to target better players, and I would rather them take their time if it meant they would land the right person,
Ancelotti has a certain pull and hopefully Everton can turn that to their advantage in finding a suitable centre-back who can strengthen the club’s defensive group.
