Several Everton fans have been caught off guard by Everton’s line-up to face Burnley, with Djibril Sidibe starting on the right of midfield.
Carlo Ancelotti has named his first ever Everton team to face Burnley at Goodison Park this afternoon, and he has gone for an unorthodox approach.

Seamus Coleman and Bernard have come in for Alex Iwobi and Tom Davies, while Sidibe has pushed up in front of the Irish captain on Everton’s right.
Taking to social media following the team announcement, many Everton fans were baffled by Ancelotti’s decision to push the French full-back so far forward, while others saw the reasoning behind the decision.

It seems to me that Ancelotti is experimenting with the players that he has available to him. He likes to play 4-4-2, and he has tried shifting players around as he doesn’t have a great deal of options due to injuries.
With Theo Walcott on the bench, and Richarlison who can come to the right if needed, he has several back-up plans that could be enacted if Sidibe’s position doesn’t work out.
This is all assuming that this is how we line-up too, because Everton’s Twitter account claim that this is how they think he will line-up, and that it isn’t a certainty.
