Everton fans – rest easy! The Toffees have secured further attacking reinforcements on Deadline Day with Josh King arriving at Goodison Park late on Monday.
A deal for the 29-year-old Norwegian international was not confirmed until the early hours of Tuesday morning, but Everton fans will be nonetheless relieved.
It was a nervy wait for Everton fans to see if they would bring in any new talent.
The Toffees missed out on top transfer target Joshua Zirkzee after the Dutch youngster put pen to paper on a loan deal with Serie A side Parma – seemingly scuppering hopes of any incomings.
The Toffees had been exploring the possibilities of bringing Zirkzee to Goodison Park on an initial loan deal with an option to buy the player but could not offer the same regular game time as Parma.
Although links with Josh King as a striking option were once rife, the rumours of Everton’s interest had died down somewhat by the opening of the January transfer window.
Confirmed at 1am through the club’s official Twitter account, Everton cryptically claimed that Josh King was signed for a ‘nominal fee’.
Understandably, such late business was a major source of intrigue for Everton fans – but not all were convinced he was a necessary signing for the club…
