Everton fans reflect on anniversary of stunning Merseyside Derby strike

Before Phil Jagielka was frustrating Everton’s forward line in Sheffield United’s defence this season, he was a David Moyes era stalwart in the Toffees’ squad.

Defensively resolute and not afraid to put his body on the line, Jags doesn’t always get the credit that he deserves for the impact he had for Everton.

Signed from the Blades for just £4million in 2007, Jagielka became a pillar of Everton’s defence for the better part of a decade.

The centre-back smashed in a bouncing shot against Liverpool in the final seconds of the game, driving from distance past Simon Mignolet in front of the Kop End.

Jagielka’s game tying goal was scored five years ago today, and following Everton’s tweet in remembrance, several fans reflected on the great moment.
