Several Everton fans are calling on Lucas Digne to keep the captain’s armband for the club after wearing it against Sheffield Wednesday.
With Seamus Coleman being dropped for Djibril Sidibe for the Carabao Cup tie, the French full-back wore the armband and skippered the Toffees to a 2-0 win over the Owls.

Reflecting upon the game on Twitter, Digne tweeted: ‘Amazing support like always and very proud to be Captain tonight’.
With growing calls for Sidibe to retain his starting spot ahead of the Blues’ Premier League fixture against Manchester City this weekend, certain fans have suggested that Digne should keep the match captaincy in Coleman’s absence.

Lucas does look pretty good with the armband on, I won’t lie…
If Seamus is to be dropped for Sidibe going forward, and that is an if, then I’d be happy to see Digne keep the armband. He is a consistent performer, he has a great relationship with the fans and he really seems to have relished his time on Merseyside.
He’s the perfect character to lead the side out to the sirens, so I’m fully on board with Captain Luca if Seamus does make way.
