Everton fans wouldn’t mind seeing Sigurdsson sold

Plenty of Everton fans have started to lose their patience with Gylfi Sigurdsson amid suggestions he could be sold by the club.

According to Football Insider, the Toffees could look to offload the player in a bid to strengthen their own transfer kitty with future signings in mind.

Following the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti, the Italian will no doubt be keen to put his own stamp on the squad and offloading one of the club’s biggest earners in Sigurdsson will go someway to helping him do just that.

These Everton fans on social media are clearly not opposed to the idea of Sigurdsson moving on.

It’s a shame to see how things have gone downhill so quickly for Sigurdsson at Goodison Park.

However, after just one goal and one assist in 20 Premier League appearances this season, it’s easy to see why fans are becoming frustrated with their club-record signing.

On the pitch, he hasn’t shown any signs of being the key player that Everton hoped they’d be getting when they spent so heavily on him. Fans have been quick to hit out at his lack of effort, especially most recently against Liverpool in the FA Cup.

Making just one tackle alongside Morgan Schneiderlin in midfield during a game against a young Liverpool XI is hardly going to get fans excited about what is to come under Ancelotti.

As a player that Everton often have to build their team around, now might be the time to move him on and let Ancelotti take his side in a new direction.
