Everton give up their pursuit of Silva

Everton have given up in their pursuit of Watford manager Marco Silva, according to the Independent.

The report claims that Everton have been deterred by Watford’s resilience, and will now move onto other targets.

Watford are determined to keep hold of Silva and were demanding at least £10m in compensation for Everton to take the former Hull boss.

Everton have now given up any hope they had of bringing Silva to Liverpool this season.

Silva has no release clause in his contract and – although he was interested in joining Everton – is not willing to resign as manager of Watford to take the role.

Watford are 8th in the Premier League table, as it stands, after a strong start to the season – with Silva earning plenty of plaudits along the way.

Everton, meanwhile, are 16th in the league and sacked Ronald Koeman last month – with David Unsworth currently in temporary charge.
