Everton have seemingly identified a replacement for Kurt Zouma, with reports suggesting that defender Matheus Doria is a target for the Toffees.
The Blues have been left with just Michael Keane, Yerry Mina and Mason Holgate as senior centre-backs this season, having failed to sign or replace Zouma.
The Frenchman was a key target for Marco Silva and having failed to convince Chelsea to let him go, a late push was launched for Marcos Rojo, although that move failed to go through due to Manchester United’s unwillingness to support European qualification rivals.

Brazil international centre-back Doria currently plays for Mexican side Santos Laguna, and according to TodoFichajes (via Sport Witness), Everton are interested in the defender’s services.
The defender reportedly has a price tag of around €12million, which while it isn’t known if Everton would be willing to pay that amount, it would be significantly lower than the price tag on Zouma’s head, which would be over triple that amount.

I’m sure many Everton fans are in the same boat as me, as I’m not too familiar with the Mexican market. Therefore, I don’t know much about Doria, other than he is formerly of Marseille and that he is a one-time Brazil international.
What I do know is that I have implicit trust in Marcel Brands to trawl the unknown markets for hidden talent, at least until he proves me otherwise. The Dutchman had a stellar track record at PSV for unearthing unknown gems and helping to develop their talent, such as now Napoli star and former Everton target Hirving Lozano, and hopefully he can continue to do so for the Toffees.
If Brands identifies Doria as a potential target that he likes, then I’m all for us putting in an offer.
