Everton are reportedly interested in Middlesbrough defender Dael Fry, with the Championship club concerned that they could lose the defender in January.
The 22-year old has been one of the more promising players from the English second division in recent years, and despite frequent transfer windows linking the centre-back with a move away, he has yet to leave the Riverside on a permanent basis.
However, that could be about to change in the January transfer window, at least if Middlesbrough’s concerns are to be believed.
According to a TEAMtalk exclusive, Boro’s captain is being pursued by Wolves, Tottenham and Manchester City, as well as Everton.

The reigning Premier League champions could look at the former England youth international to plug a defensive gap at the Etihad. The Cityzens failed to replace Vincent Kompany in the summer, while both Aymeric Laporte and John Stones are currently injured.
The report claims that Boro would be firmly against letting the defender go, although they aren’t in the financial position to refuse a sizeable offer, with an offer over £20million suggested as the right amount to convince them to sell.
Sky reported in August that the club had rejected an £8million offer from Burnley for Fry.

As mentioned above, Fry has emerged as one of the more promising players from the Championship in the past few years. Still only 22-years old, and brimming with potential, Fry does appear to be a solid target for Everton.
Whether he can cut it in the Premier League isn’t yet known, but he could be worth the gamble if Marcel Brands and the scouting team decide he is the man to grow into the side in the long-term.
Fry could potentially become the next John Stones, or the next Mason Holgate, and while you’d ideally prefer the former situation, the latter would be better than having just three senior centre-backs.
