Everton keen on Jack Clarke – why he would be a good addition

Since rejoining Leeds United on loan over the summer, Jack Clarke has failed to kick on.

The 18-year-old left the Whites for Tottenham in a deal worth £10 million, with Spurs then loaning the talented winger back to the Yorkshire side.

However, Clarke has only made two appearances this season under Marcelo Bielsa, both of which came in the Carabao Cup.

The arrival of Eddie Nketiah on loan from Arsenal has meant that Clarke has found himself out of the matchday squad entirely, with sides only permitted to name five loanees in their 18-man squad.

Spurs now look set to recall Clarke in the new year, and according to the Daily Express, the Toffees are keen on his services.

Fellow Premier League sides Crystal Palace and West Ham are also tracking the winger’s situation, but would he be a good addition at Goodison Park?

Marco Silva has the likes of Alex Iwobi, Richarlison, Bernard and Theo Walcott all available out wide currently, however, adding Clarke to the squad for the second half of the campaign would provide Silva with another alternative option on the flanks.

The youngster excelled for Leeds last season, which ultimately earnt him his move to Tottenham, and despite failing to kick on so far this year, his raw talent have left many, including Bielsa, labelling him as a future star.

Clarke’s direct approach and ability to beat a man would definitely be welcomed by the Toffees faithful, however, it appears as if Everton will face a battle for his services in the new year if they decide to firm up their interest.

matchday.
