Everton leading the race to sign coveted England U21 star

Everton are at the front of the queue to sign Norwich City midfielder James Maddison this summer, according to the Guardian.

The club are looking for a long-term replacement for Wayne Rooney, who is set to leave for DC United in America this summer.

The 21-year-old, Maddison had a fine season last time out, netting 15 goals as he claimed the Canaries’ Player of the Season award.

Maddison is keen on a move to the Premier League and it now appears that the Toffees are moving closer to securing the deal.

He has also in the past been watched by both Liverpool and Tottenham while West Ham have also seen bids rejected for the Norwich starlet in previous transfer windows.

Norwich are demanding at least £20 million for the player, but they won’t stand his way if he is keen on making a move away from Carrow Road this summer as Premier League football beckons.

matchday.
