Everton are interested in signing Galatasaray forward Mbaye Diagne, according to sources in Turkey, so what do we make of this rumour?
According to the reports from Turkish outlet Sabah (via Inside Futbol), Gala are keen on letting Diagne go as they look to raise funds for some summer spending, presumably with some of that set to go on Henry Onyekuru.
This report claims that Everton are willing to sink money into bringing the journeyman Senegal international to Goodison Park, with Diagne expected to cost around €15million.
While Diagne has recieved interested from wealthy middle-eastern clubs, the 27-year reportedly wishes to remain in Europe at this stage in his career.
Having been linked with Crystal Palace earlier this window, Everton now appear to be in a stronger position to sign the forward, particularly if they plan on using Onyekuru as a makeweight.
With Onyekuru’s future unclear, although the Nigerian is clear on wanting to rejoin Gala, it would make perfect sense for Everton to use the winger as a way to leverage a deal for Diagne, if they are indeed interested in the forward.
Everton are clearly desperate to sign a forward this summer, and while Moise Kean looks set to come in, Cenk Tosun’s departure could leave room for further reinforcements in the striking department.
Diagne’s goalscoring record over the previous few seasons is pretty impressive, and having scored 11 times in 17 appearances this signing for Gala in January, Everton could certainly do a lot worse for such a low fee.
