Premier League side Everton have been linked with a surprise move for Atlanta United striker Josef Martinez, who is currently the top scorer in the MLS, according to a report by El Diario, as cited on Sport Witness.
New Toffees boss Marco Silva wants to build a new squad with his own twist on it and Martinez is a potential target.
The 25-year-old striker has found the back of the net 14 times in 16 games, making him the star of the MLS this season.
The link to Everton comes from Spanish news outlet El Diario who claim that Everton have been keeping a close eye on his performances in recent weeks.
The former Torino forward has had his fair share of injury problems but now that he is fully fit, he is showing that he can be a prolific goalscorer.
The Venezuelan international has a natural finishing instinct when inside the box and although he isn’t the biggest of forwards, he is very good in the air.
No official contact has been made by Everton, who are only still reportedly keeping tabs on the striker.
